Book Review By Wayne S. Urben
Dawn Over The Amazon by Carleton Beals

As World War II rages on into the 1950's, an American engineer and promoter, Grant Hammond, gets caught up in a movement to unite the republics of South America into a single nation much like the United States. He is aided in his efforts by a popular Peruvian leader known as “The Reaper," the Reaper's pretty sister, and a Hungarian Baron, but is hampered in his efforts by General Manuel Montes, the president and dictator of Peru. Montes has them all arrested on trumped-up charges of treason. And once they get out, they end up stranded at a Brazilian fort, fighting yellow fever, the Nazis who attack from the east coast, and the Japanese who attack from the west coast.
