Flashpoint by Suzanne Brockmann

James 'Diego' Nash works for Troubleshooters Inc. in undercover, top secret, dangerous missions that require men like him who have the "special" skills it takes to handle the deadly jobs no one else can do. Nash's life has been an extremely hard one, and looking for love was never a priority on his goal's list. When he takes an assignment to war torn Kazbekistan, he finds himself unprepared for the attraction that springs up between him and operative team mate, Tess Bailey.

Now Nash finds his thoughts divided between the job and Tess, and as the mission's danger escalates, he has to finally make a choice for his life and decide if his future holds Tess. Meanwhile Tess fights her own emotional inner problems. She's always been attracted to Nash, but knows he's not the "permanent kind" of man. While working and fighting along side of him on the mission to Kazbekistan, Tess finds her attraction growing into something stronger. She's left wondering if it's possible that Nash can ever make a commitment. By the time the dangerous, life threatening mission is over, both Tess and Nash finally face their feelings for each other and realize that compromising and commitment can go hand in hand, and love can be a promise that can be kept without fear.
