Book Review By Kristy Pastore
Candide by Voltaire

Candide is a satire written by Voltaire about the optimistic philosophy of his time that was saying "This is the best of all worlds". Candide is the main character in the story who goes from living in the best of all worlds to seeing the bad sides of life and humans. He is placed in many situations that are often absurd and throughout the story loves a young woman whom he is constantly trying to reunite with. Voltaire uses humor and sarcasm to make the story express his own opinions and it is short, only 120 pages.
