Book Review By A. Antonow
Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery

Spinster Marilla Cuthbert runs the household of her bachelor brother Matthew Cuthbert in Prince Edward Island at the turn of the century. Once the Cuthberts get older, Marilla decides to send away to Charlottetown for an orphan boy to help run the Green Gables farm. The Cuthberts are shocked when they are sent a red-haired talkative little girl instead. Marilla wishes to send the imaginative and odd Anne Shirley back to the orphanage, but the normally shy Matthew is charmed by the girl. Marilla agrees to keep Anne on a trial basis until the matter can be resolved. Anne can't seem to keep out of trouble, however, and she seems to be always entangling herself in disastrous and hilarious adventures.
