In the third book of the Cynster series, Richard (Scandal)Cynster is called to Scotland to receive an item of his deceased mother. Upon reaching Scotland Richard learns that in order for the family to receive their inheritance, he must marry the Laird's ward, Catriona Hennessy.
Catriona, called the Lady of the Vale, has the mystical powers, and sees a vision of the man who who will be the father of her children, Richard. Even though she does not to marry, she and Richard feel a strong attraction to each other. When Richard agrees to the marriage, Catriona fights it but in the end, goes with the decision.
