A Civil Campaign by Lois McMaster Bujold

Miles Vorkosigan has a problem- he's found the woman he wants to marry, but she just lost a husband who had been emotionally stifling her for years. Ekaterin wants only to go back to school and not have to worry about men for a while, but they keep pushing their way into her life.

Miles is determined to give her the space she needs, but at the same time, he's trying to figure out how to keep her all to himself. And his foster brother, Emperor Gregor of Barrayar, is getting ready to marry, and Miles is his second. Then Miles' brother (clone), Mark, comes back from Beta colony after his girlfriend, Kareen, comes back, and the two have to deal with her parents being difficult about the fact that Kareen loves him. In the end, everything works out, and Miles no longer has to worry that he'll be left holding the bag AND the Empire, as he is in line for the throne if anything happens to Gregor.
