This is the story of Gerald Durrell's animal collecting expedition to Argentina and Paraguay in 1954. As in Durrell's other books, there are descriptions of landscapes and places, and the usual portraits of charming characters, both human and animal. The Durrells had to release most of the animals they caught in Paraguay and make their escape from the country in a small aircraft, due to a revolution. As a result, they came back from the six-month journey with a lot of memories but only a relatively small number of animals, most of which they caught in Argentina. | ||
