After being branded and run out of town, Jed Blackstone, finally has a chance to get back at his attacker. If he manages to get back home in time, with the money he's won in a recent poker game, he could save his brothers' farm from his enemy's clutches. But on his way home he gets brutally assaulted by a band of hillbillies and finds himself forced into hiding in Eleanor Millers' home, while he recovers. Widowed and being held captive by her hillbilly in-laws, Eleanor is desperate to escape, so after nursing Jeb back to health she convinces him to help her get away.
