The Duke's Mistress by Ann Elizabeth Cree

Justin, the Duke of Wesmore, believed that Lady Isabelle Milborne had played a part in her husbands' plans, which ruined him. Now three years later he's determined to make her pay and does so by forcing her to settle the wager between her late husband and himself by becoming his mistress for the season. As they continue to get closer and the bond of friendship they once shared rekindles he begins to wonder how he'll live without her when their bargain is complete.
Isabelle accepts the Duke's offer in order to keep him from pursuing her sister in-law. Now if she could simply convince him that she had only played a part in her husbands' cruel plan to save Justin's life, then maybe they could start anew. As rumors begin to fly and she finds her name tarnished, Isabelle has no choice but to accept Justin's offer of protection and marriage but can this situation of convenience ever lead to something deeper?
