Book Review By Janine Peterson
Hard Laughter by Anne Lamott

Jennifer and her brothers must cope with a brain tumor which is killing their intelligent writer father. The tumor causes the father to lose his command of language, something that he and Jennifer (an aspiring writer) have always valued. The novel details Jennifer's attempts to find meaning in life - not to mention a job and maybe a boyfriend - while coming to terms with the gradual loss of her father. This story is based on the author's own experience with her sick father.
