Terrell McCabe is convalescing on his boat in California, after a recent heart transplant operation. His previous career as a FBI agent took its toll on his health so he has retired from the Bureau. He is approached by beautiful Graciela Rivers, who claims to be the sister of the woman whose heart was posthumously given to him. A string of brutal murders are being committed against seemingly unconnected victims. McCabe is forced to defend himself against allegations that he may be involved once it is discovered the victims all possess a rare blood type making their organs precious commodities to those in need of transplants.
As a romance evolves between McCaleb and Graciela it further complicates his ability to prove his innocence, as he is suspected of killing Graciela's sister to get the heart that would save his life. The killer proves to be very smart and elusive, staying one step ahead of McCaleb as the novel races to its conclusion. | ||
