Book Review By David Loftus
Four Stupid Cupids by Gregory Maguire

Two months after the events of Five Alien Elves, it's nearly Valentine's Day in Hamlet, Vermont. The Tattletales want to arrange a boyfriend for their teacher, Miss Earth, and find themselves with some terrifically unforeseen assistance when a sealed amphora mailed to Fawn Petros from her aunt in Greece breaks open to reveal four young cupids (who had been imprisoned by a witch just after shooting Alexander the Great with their arrows). Unfortunately, the little creatures' aim is poor, and they hit a variety of different targets, causing poor Miss Earth to fall in love with a succession of unlikely objects, from a frog to a television set (which is very unlike book-loving Germaine Earth!). Meanwhile, Pearl has sent a special "friendship" valentine anonymously to Sammy Grubb, while the Widow Wendell is trying to snare Mayor Timothy Grass, who is interested in Miss Earth. This is the fourth cute book in the Hamlet Chronicles series.
