Kate Reddy is a successful hedge-fund manager and mother of two young children. As the primary bread winner in the family, she faces the conflict between her business life and being the good mother she wants to be. Her hilarious story takes the reader through countless mishaps with the children (buying cakes and passing them off as her own) and her career (missed flights and an unusual cabby). She gets so thoroughly wrapped up in the working world, that days go by that she hardly see's her children. Feeling the stress of feeling like she can't give her family enough, and the guilt associated with it, pushes Kate almost to the edge, where she comes frightfully close to having an affair. Throughout the story, Kate is deeply torn between a career she loves and the family she wants to be there for.
