A Samba for Sherlock by Jô Soares

A SAMBA FOR SHERLOCK (O Xangô de Baker Street) is a novel written by the Brazilian author Jô Soares and first published in 1995.

The well-known stage actress Sarah Bernhardt is in Brazil for a triumphal tour. At the same time, a serial killer is at work in Rio de Janeiro. Two women have already been savagely murdered by this killer who cuts the tongue of his victims. Sarah advises the King of Brazil to ask the famous Sherlock Holmes to come in Rio in order to help the local police. A few weeks later, Holmes and Dr. Watson arrive. In spite of his not always accurate, deductions, Sherlock Holmes is unable to help the police chief Mello Pimenta. In the meantime, another bloody murder is committed.
