The Heartland Ranch is run by Amy, her sister Lou, and their Grandpa Jack. At Heartland horses and ponies are healed physically and emotionally. The series has focused on horses being healed but as the books continue more attention is centered on the human relationships which are healing and growing as well.
Amy is training a newborn filly named Daybreak. Daybreak is headstrong and difficult to work with. When Daybreak becomes sick Amy must use all of her skills to save her.
