Book Review By A. Bentley
Girl, 20 by Kingsley Amis

Douglas Yandell is a classical music critic. His friend Sir Roy Vandervane is an aging music conductor who is having an affair with a 17 year old girl named Sylvia. Douglas becomes involved in the affairs of Sir Roy when Kitty, Roy's wife, calls Douglas and asks him to discover with whom her husband is engaging in an affair. Things become increasingly complicated when Sir Roy asks Douglas to accompany him on a double date with Sylvia and Roy's daughter Penny. The idea would be to make it seem like Douglas was dating Penny and was out with her, her friend and her father. However, Douglas already kind of has a girlfriend, Penny definitely has a boyfriend and no one but Roy wants to be anywhere near Sylvia. The novel describes the adventures and complications that take place when Roy continues his affair with Sylvia.
