Bewitched by Barbara Cartland

The Marquis of Ruckley is spending an idle afternoon at his club when he is drawn into a lively debate. Can a ill-bred woman, with proper education, pass herself off as a lady of quality? The men decide to make it a bet, they have one year to produce a candidate, if she can fool Sir Algernon, they win 1,000 pounds.

The Marquis has just not been having a good week, accidents keep happening, and he just misses being killed. If he didn't know better he would think someone was out to do him harm. He then finds out that what looked like an accident may not have been, and there is a rival for the woman he just proposed to. All this does not help his mood. In his temper, his driving is not at it's best, he hits a young gypsy woman with his carriage.

The Marquis becomes fascinated with this young gypsy woman, and realizes she could be the perfect candidate to help him win the bet. Saviya captivates and enchants the entire household. The Marquis is falling under Saviya's spell when yet another attack happens. To protect the injured Marquis , Saviya whisks him away to her gypsy caravan.
