The Crown of Anavrea by Rachel Rossano

Eve is a slave in the country of Braulyn. She stumbles across a wounded stranger who calls himself Labren. Making the decision to save his life, she runs away from her master and hides him in a abandoned hermit's shack.

After he recovers, he offers to marry her, which according to the law of the land would free her. She accepts and he takes her with him as he continues his journey. They travel to a school. On the way, he relapses and they end up staying there. Durring their stay, she finds out that his true name is Trahern and he is on the run from his father, the King of Anavrea, the neighboring country. Also, during this time, Labren/Trahern's half-brother arrives and together they begin to plan how to resolve the rift in the family.
