Book Review By Angel Manners
Slightly Married by Mary Balogh

Colonol Lord Aiden Bedwyn has returned to England from a battle in France to inform a fallen comrade's sister of his death. Aiden promised to protect his fallen friend's sister, Eve Morris. Upon arriving at her home, Ringwood Manor, Aiden is informed by Eve that she does not need his protection.

Aiden, stranded at Ringwood due to rainstorms, finds out that Eve is about to be turned out of her home. Eve was to inherit Ringwood only if she married a year after her father's death, otherwise the property would revert to her brother. Upon her brother's death, though, her odious cousin will inherit, and in with only one week left for Eve to marry, he plans on turning Eve out.

Aiden proposes a marriage of convenience to Eve, to fulfill his vow and allowing her to save her dependents. Eve and Aiden travel to London to inform Aiden's brother, the Duke of Bewcastle, of their upcoming marriage. In the process of showing society that their marriage is real, the two find that they each privately wish that is it was so, but neither have the courage to face their love.
