This is a history of the British monarchy, from Ecgberht, the first king of England, to Elizabeth II. Arranged chronologically, and with chapters divided by royal houses/families, each king and queen of England and Scotland is given several pages of biography, complete with many pictures, portraits, and coats of arms. Events of each ruler's reign are presented in small timelines, and the stories of the monarch's lives include their family and personal lives, as well as their contributions to British history as a whole.
