Book Review By Michael Jung
Skull Of Truth by Bruce Coville

Weird Mr. Elives' magic shop is full of weird things -- like the human skull Charlie Eggleston steals from a display shelf one day. To Charlie's surprise, he discovers the skull (his name is Yorick) can speak! Even more amazing, Yorick can compel others to tell the truth -- something that proves very inconvenient for a compulsive liar like Charlie! Charlie's new knack for truth telling gets him into a lot of trouble at home and on the playground, especially when he insults his best friend who's recovering from chemotherapy treatments. But when Charlie discovers a dishonest developer is about to convince the community to build an industrial park over a wild swamp, he decides to use the skull's truth powers to do a good deed and save the swamp. Unfortunately Charlie's plan also winds up getting Yorick stolen. Now Charlie must find Yorick and deliver him to his rightful owner before the skull's powers cause everyone even more trouble.
