Book Review By Whitney Woodruff
Incident At Hawk's Hill by Allan W. Eckert

This story is about a little boy, Benjamin MacDonald. He is six years old. His family lives on a farm near Hawk's Hill. Ben is especially small for his age. He dosen't talk very much and many think he is handicaped or has some type of physical illness.

Ben, I guess you could say he has a talent, he imitates animals and can make sounds as well or if not better than animals. Many people in town think the son of William and Esther MacDonald is crazy.

While out exploring and watching different animals Ben runs into a badger. He had heard stories of how mean and horrible badgers can be. Ben has many more encounters with the badger.

Ben goes off exploring and ends up getting lost. He travels further and further away from home and can't tell which way he is going. With all the hills and fields of Prarie Grass Benjamin is in trouble. He has his final encounter with a badger when he tries to find cover during a rain storm. Benjamin fights for survival and is on the verge of death.
