Book Review By Christine Tomas
Cotillion by Georgett Heyer

Kitty Charing was infuriated when her guardian compels her cousins to offer to mary her -- especially when the cousin of her choice did not appear. In an effort to make Jack, her cousin of choice jealous, she begs Freddie -- the cousin who had the least bit of interest in her -- to pretend they were betrothed.

In her one month stay in London, Kitty found that everything was not as she had thought them to be. She learned that she could be quite beautiful with the right clothes and quite different from the plain girl her straitlaced upbringing had allowed. She learned of the beautiful sights and the gaiety of London but that there were some things in London she should be wary of. She also learned that she did not like Jack more than she liked Freddie.

Freddie, on the other hand, learned that there was more to him than other people saw -- more than the dandy in his fancy cravats and impeccable clothes and manner. As he tried to help Kitty out of all sorts of scrapes, he grew quite fond of her and could not help wanting to make true their engagement.
