Glynn and Ember Flanders are vacationing on a small Greek island, knowing that it could very well be the last holiday Ember ever takes. Ember is dying from a brain tumor that has left her partially blind. The last night of their holiday Glynn takes a moonlit swim. She is a strong athletic girl, but she gets into trouble, and is pulled under the water. Fortunately she is saved from drowning by an enigmatic young windwalker named Solen.
