Ramsey Dunsmore, the Earl of Braxton, and one of the notorious "Rogues of London", is called to some spy work for England's home office. He is to help retrieve an amulet stolen from Egypt, supposedly by Phoebe Thompson and her Egyptologist father, and to do so Ram must seduce Phoebe for information. Four years earlier Ram and Phoebe had married each other, but Phoebe ran off the next day, leaving for Egypt and telling Ram to dissolve their marriage, which he never did.
When Ram has a "chance" encounter with Phoebe, he reinstates himself into her life, trying seduce information about her missing father and amulet. Phoebe does not know where the amulet is, but she must find it because her father has actually been kidnapped and she is told if she contacts the authorities, he shall be killed. Phoebe is also aware that Ram has some ulterior motive for trying to seduce her, so she tries to seduce him back to find out, despite their obvious animosity for each other. Ram and Phoebe's passion reunites, but their past lies in their way of happiness, and when Phoebe is repeatedly threatened by an unknown assailant, Ram decides to make their marriage public. Phoebe still loves Ram, and he is confused of his feelings, but knows he wants Phoebe more than anyone, ever. To make their marriage real, they must surpass the past and Ram's misgivings about his ability to maintain fidelity throughout his marriage. | ||
