Faith returns to her home town ten years after she and her family were run out when her mother supposedly ran off with the richest man in town. Gray, the son of the man her mother ran off with is hostile and wants her to leave so she won't upset his sister and mother, both of whom are mentally fragile. Faith knows her mother did not leave with Gray's father and attempts to discover what happened to him. She is harrassed by a murderer and she and Gray, whom she's always loved, eventually become lovers. The murderer eventually tries to kill Faith.
