Courting Catherine by Nora Roberts

The Calhouns are in trouble. Their beautiful family mansion is falling apart and they can't afford to keep it anymore. When Aunt Coco sets up a meeting with hotelier Trenton St. James, her niece Catherine, "CC", is furious. She doesn't realize the whole point is to get Trent to fall in love with one of the four sisters.

CC falls in love with Trent, while he is reluctant to return her feelings. While trying to keep Coco happy, they have a seance to talk to the spirit of CC's great grandmother Bianca, who committed suicide rather than live without her lover. It is then that Coco tells them about the Calhoun emeralds.

When the sisters realize they can no longer afford the house, they agree to see it with the condition that if the emeralds are found, they will belong to them. Trent agrees and buys the house. He leaves Maine but misses CC terribly, and he realizes he loves her. He hurt her badly when he left, but will he be able to mend fences and keep the house in the family he hopes he will soon be part of?
