After Silence is Nancy Venable Raine's recounting of her ordeal with rape and the struggles of life afterwards. The book starts in 1985 in Boston with the day she was raped. She then explains the processing and police investigations which were demoralizing to her. She then flashes forward to 1993 in Calrfornia and then to her parents house in Virginia where we get to know more about the afteraffects, emotional struggles and social stigmas through a myriad of statistics. We follow Nancy all the way through the actual writing and publishing of the book. The book is a view of what women feel and go through. But it's also a bit dry with the over use of statistics, though each chapter is opened with some nice poetry. | ||
