The Scotsman Wore Spurs by Patricia Potter

Andrew Cameron, Earl of Kinloch was trying to make a new life for himself far away from his native Scotland. He had too much pain and emotions tied to his native home, and wanted to start over in the American west. While in a saloon he overheard several gunslingers making plans to murder a rancher. He was loathe to let an innocent man be murdered. After saving the man's life he found himself hired on to the rancher's cattle drive.

When skinny, scruffy, and young Gabe Lewis joined up with the cattle drive he was instantly suspicious. There was something odd about the boy but he couldn't figure out what. During a river accident Andrew found out, Gabe was really Gabrielle. Andrew demanded to know what other secrets Gabrielle was hiding. Wanting to trust but too scared she begs him to hide her secret from the boss, and let her stay on the cattle drive. She secretly was looking for the gunslinger who murdered her father, and wanted her dead also.
