The center of the novel is concerned mainly with how the grown up Conor and Seamus define themselves through sport, language, literature and the use of violence. Eventually, they realize that there is only solution to the problems they face.
Best part of story, including ending:
Trinity recreates a certain period with incredible detail and realism, and also never gets bogged down in slow passages. There is something for everyone.
Best scene in story:
The climatic battle where both main character show how much they are
willing to sacrifice in order to free their country.
Opinion about the main character:
The lead character, Conor, was not shown to be overly saintly, rather a
realistic flawed individual, who nevertheless did what he thought was right.
