Plot Summary of The Keeping Place
"The 4th in the Obernewtyn chronicles, the Misfits now know that their path involves not fighting, but pacifism, and demonstrating to others that their mental powers are not to be feared. However, they are blackmailed by the rebels to aid in the rebellion against the oppressive council when Rushton, the Master of Obernewtyn is kidnapped. Elspeth, the powerful and multitalented giuldmistress must lead the misfits into the rebellion, all the while dreaming of the past, and learning the clues that will eventually lead her on her secret quest to destroy the weapons that caused the original disaster on earth."
Leah, Resident Scholar

"The Misfits have now realised that they must not fight in the rebellion which is looming because they must take a vow of pacifism. The Master of Obernewtyn is kidnapped, and the Misfits are forced to fight with the rebels, only to be betrayed by Malik (a rebel who hates Misfits). Elspeth must continue her search for the clues which will lead her to find the catche of dormant weapons which destroyed the earth."
Ris, Resident Scholar

"Elspeth is a despised misfit with mental abilties in a future world that has been partially destroyed by the mysterious 'beforetimers. She seeks clues in her quest to destroy Beforetime weaponmachines. However Elspeth is not alone as a despised misfit. Obernewtyn is a safe haven for misfits but it won't be for much longer as councilmen have become suspicious of this mysterious place in the mountains. The misfits have decided that something must be done, so they join with the rebels to defeat the council. But this goes horribly wrong when Malik (a rebel leader who is prejudice against misfits) betrays the misfits and leaves them to be killed by soldiers."
Justine, Resident Scholar
