After all these years, this 62 year old with a post graduate degree, read your two books about the holocaust printed by Scholastic Inc. Most of us have no idea of the events the Chosen people suffered simply for being Jewish. Thank you for your courage and willingness to share your story! Would it be an imposition to request a small autographed photo?

I read I Have Lived a Thousand Years a few months ago, around December, January time. It was absolutely PHENOMINAL. I enjoyed it a lot. I never put it down. It was definitely a book I will never regret reading... I don't like reading too much... I get bored easily with it, but this book was one I never wanted to put down. It was interesting all the way through. I would LOVE to meet her sometime... I wish all of us could.

Is Professor Bitton-Jackson still writing her column in the Jewish Post?

I have also read Professor Bitton-Jackson's four books and enjoyed them all. Does anyone know if she is going to be writing another book or giving any lectures in the US soon?

in response to jeff's 5/31 post: i've read all 4 of ms jackson's books, and heard a couple of her lectures, and her poems are never mentioned. i, too, and i suppose every one of her readers have wondered about them and the identity and fate of the soldier who took them for her. . .

I read several of the questions and could not determine whether or not Livia's poems were ever returned or what happened to that soldier. My son and I are reading "I have lived a thousand years" and he keeps asking me to find out about her poems. Thank you for sharing your life with those of us who need to remember it.

reply to erik: Ms. bitton-jackson lives in netanya, israel. she did come to the usa in 2009 to speak to students who invited and brought her here. her address to them and their community is available in the archive of lectures on the durham museum website. she is a very warm and open person. her other books are excellent as well. see my post a couple of spots down for the titles of those books.

I am an 8th grade reading teacher in Wisconsin. I read "I Have Lived A Thousand Years" with my students each year. All my students love the book and we are wondering if anyone knows of any speaking engagements that Ms. Bitton-Jackson gives. We are hoping to save enough money to travel to meet her or hire her for a speaking engagement if she visits schools. Does anyone have any info on this?

reply to bess: have you read 'my bridges of hope' and 'hello, america'? those tell of the years after the shoah. her latest book was published last august. it is 'saving what remains' and is a captivating read, as are all of her books. she also writes a newspaper column that is available online.

Is there any word on whether or not Livia is planning on writing any more books? It would be interesting to learn about the period between the time when she earned her high school diploma and when she moved to Israel.
