I was a Hydrographic surveyor in the Navy when I started reading Clive Cussler. I have been reading alot of the negative comments on this blog and feel that most of the people writing them are either very good writers, researchers and god knows what else!!! Regardless of some errors he is still one of the only authers I have read that takes you into his books and allows you to get lost for a while whithout having to worry about what is going on in the world. By the way to those commenting about where Dirk and Summer came from, re-read the book and read between the lines.....To Mr Cussler, thanks for so many great books, they hold pride and place on my display book case and will be past on to my three sons.

Guys, i know there is many many errors in his books because i have read all his Dirk Pitt series Kurt Austin series and I am finishing the Oregon ones.
But after writing so many books and putting so much time in them would you remember all things?
Don't be complaining - his books are one of the best i have ever read and I will always say that.

Why bother ? If you read one Cussler book, you have read them all and one is more then plenty. I found that out the hard way.

I need help figuring out which Cussler books I've already read. Specifically in question are: Atlantis Found, Corsair, Polar Shift, and Deep Six. If I could get a couple of names of unique characters (artifact expert, female in distress, assasin, etc.) for these books it would help me a great deal when added to the jacket summaries. Thanks!

If I wasn't reading on an E-reader I'd rip out every page that a character says, "what little I know of the subject" and send it back. I think every character in the Atlantis book says it at least once.

I've been reading Cussler novels for years but was very disappointed by Sacred Stone. The pursuit of the meteorite through Scotland and down into England was so full of glaring errors that it ruined the book for me, it's as if the research was carried out entirely online with no firsthand knowledge of the locations mentioned.

I want to share my opinion about the Treasure, please correct me if I'm wrong.
1. Santa Inez, the island, is described as 65 kilometres wide by 95 kilometres in length on page 404. When Pitt and the team were on the island, Pitt asked 'How far away are we from where the glacier meets the fjord?'. 'The wall facing the fjord is slightly less than two hundred kilometres west' Findley replied.
2. Why did the terrorists sink the General Bravo, then masqueraded the Lady Flamborough as the General Bravo with a lot of problems, if they could move all the people to the General Bravo and sink the Lady Flamborough instead?

Cussler either just outlines the stories and his co-authors write them or he has forgotten what he has written. The Oregon books have alot of errors. The biggest is Langston Overholt IV. In the Jungle he is over 70 but in Golden Budda it is said he started running in high school when the Jim Fixx book came out. That was 1977 either he is the oldest person to ever graduate high school or major mistake.

Cussler's errors are numerous. Dirk & Summer never consummated their relationship in PACIFIC VORTEX, so the children were "immaculately conceived". Silly, isn't it. No one understood where Loren's father came from after he died. Neither did that idiot Cussler,apparently. The man has huge difficulty researching his own work and continually makes geographical,physical, and grammatical errors in many of his books. Some are downright insulting. Check out where he put Montreal in THE CHASE or the language spoken in Brazil in POLAR SHIFT. The man is an embarrassment.
