As a down and very out recent college graduate, he moves across the nation to Seattle to find his life. After literally trying his hand at experimental theatre, he answers an ad for work as a customer service associate answering telephone calls for placed orders, lost shipments, complaints, etc. with a fledgling Internet company. The odd cast of characters he encounters coupled with the frantic pace of life at Amazon.com in it's early days creates a wild scenario where the most unusual business management techniques are utilized.
Throughout the book, Mr Daisey authors touching, quirky, bizzarre, abstract e-mails to Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.com. Over a period of three years, Mr Daisey manages to succeed and advance through no real effort of his own. The book is equal parts comedy, a How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying guide, and a cautionary tale of the public's fascination with internet start up companies.
A must read for anyone who has ever hated their company, their job, their boss or their career. A laugh out loud book in the league of humorists Dave Barry, Bill Geist, Rick Reilly or Tony Kornheiser.
