This book is set during the first half of Angel's first season. In the story we have the usual main characters of Angel, Cordelia and Doyle. We also have Detective Kate Lockley making an appearance when a spate of murders comes to the attention of the Angel Investigation gang. With not a lot to go on Kate Lockley grudgingly lets Angel help, although he leads her to believes that it could be some sort of cult behind the killings.
