The story is set in the late eighteen hundreds in a time in our country that is untamed and free as those who lived in it. With the beautiful backdrop of Colorado territory the story weaves us through the mystery, love and passion of a strong minded Shayleen O'Malley. Returning home from five years back east Shayleen comes back to the land she loves and the man she vowed she would return to, Chance McCord, the handsome sheriff she has loved since she was eight years old. Not long after she arrives she has an accident and as fate would have it she meets the handsome Trace Cooper, a loner some call a mountain man and the love story begins. Chance finds himself drawn to Shayleen as well as Trace who is captivated by the violet eyed beauty. One finds themselves wondering which one she will choose and the reader is captured in the time and romance of the story and its characters.
