Peter Mallory works for Phag Magazine. He's your average 'married' twink, but gets fired by his boss, Chester, b/c the quality of his work is not what the magazine is looking for anymore. Peter's friend Mac suggests he write a book about the bear culture, a subculture in the gay community. But in order to get a proper look at the culture, Peter himself must become a bear. He grows a goatee, stops shaving his body, and stops worrying about what he eats, while Mac helps him adjust his attitude to fit in. Peter is contemplating how he can get vengeance on his boss and Phag magazine, and after discovering that no one recognizes him with his new look, gets a janitorial job in Phag's building. He catches his partner, Danny, cheating on him, and they break up. With his access to Phag's offices, Peter manages to cause much mischief for those working there. He also picks up a job at a local bear paraphenalia (bearaphenalia) store, when he finds out that Phag will be holding a press conference there.
