Bloody River Blues Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Bloody River Blues

This is the second book in a series with John Pellam, a location scout in the film industry. He is a character who always finds trouble without looking for it. In this novel he almost witnesses a double murder and the shooting of a police officer. The State and Federal police believe he saw the instigator of the killing when he looked into the widow of a car just before the incident. Pellam insists he could not see the person. A US attorney is desperate to convict a gangster who benefits from the murder, one victim was about to testify against him. Pellam finds himself with three sets of people out to harass or kill him: the real killers, one of whom he has seen, the local police who are colleagues of the shot cop, and the federal agents trying to convict the man they think paid for the hit. As usual Deaver gives his readers a great adventure, never knowing where the next thrill will come from. Pellam is not my favourite protagonist but he is well crafted and the book turns out OK.
