Bullrider's Twins Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Bullrider's Twins

Judah and Darla finally finally acted upon their mutual attraction, but she runs out the next day and later he finds out she is pregnant with twins, but is willing to marry someone else because she thinks he doesn't want them. Judah Callahan had been interested in Darla Cameron for as long as he could, remember and now, on the night of his brother's wedding, she is waiting for him in his bed, nude. Apparently, she was interested as well, even though everyone knew he wasn't the type to get married and have kids. If they only have one night together, that was still okay. Fortunately, his brother had given all of his groomsmen a big box of condoms.

The next morning, Darla ran out of his room and home with barely a hello and their night together was never mentioned again. He tries to see her, but just can't seem to. About four months after their night together, he and his entire extended family get an invitation to her wedding, which is in only a few days. And then he hears the rumors that she is pregnant. But, surely there is no way it is his, if it was she would have told him.

In case there is not enough concern over this event, he finds out that the condoms they all received were a gag gift. Judah has an aunt who wants to see all of her nephews married, with children and there is a contest she is providing that leaves the family ranch and land to the man with the most children. The box of condoms was a joke about that contest…and they do not work.

When he is finally able to speak with Darla, he finds out that is the father. However, she is entering into a marriage of convenience with a man who will help her raise the children, which is what she thinks he does not want. However, it is one thing to say you do not want children, another to give away children when they are on the way, and by the way, she is pregnant with twin girls.

Impending fatherhood makes Judah think about his life and he soon decides, he wants his life to be their lives and he wants to be a daddy. He pursues her, but she feels as if he is only with her because of the babies and one day he will get sick of it and leave. It is very clear that she has feelings for him and only friendship for her fiancé, but she still plans to get married.

There is another problem he has and he doesn't know how to fix it. At some point, he must have made someone very angry, because now there is a very bad guy who is trying to kill him. He and Darla fight because he tries to push her away and after she realizes he is trying to protect her, she refuses to allow it. Pregnant or not, she will help him and then she realizes that it would not be fair to marry her fiancé when she has such strong feelings for the father of her babies.

As the novel ends, she has called off her wedding and she and Judah are together, with a plan of getting married. However, this book is in a series and as the book ends, the reader is not told who was trying to kill Judah or why. Presumably, it is in the next book.
Best part of story, including ending: I liked the fact that although Darla was dumb to assume Judah would not want the babies, she was planninmg ahead and trying to be rational. Also, we never find out who the bad guy is or why he wants Judah dead. That's unique for these types of novels, where everything is usually so neat at the end of each book.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene was actually the first scene in the book, which was also their first love scene. It was atypical from most romance novels because they were not actually dating, but had known each other for years and she seduced him. It was just nice that he didn't have to teach her what she liked in bed, she was waiting for him when he came in.

Opinion about the main character: I feel that we saw a lot of character growth in Judah over just a few months. He went from thinking that any man who got married was a sucker to admitting he loved Darla, fighting for her and wanting to be a husband and father. That was just very impressive.
