Can't Stand the Heat Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Can't Stand the Heat

Miranda Wake is a sharp-tongued food critic with a reputation for giving scathing reviews of restaurants. Adam Temple has just opened his new restaurant Market and during the restaurant's opening, Miranda gets drunk and insults Adam. Adam challenges her to spend an entire day in his restaurant's kitchen and then judge its quality. Miranda pulls a few strings and manages to get herself inside Market's kitchen for an entire month. Miranda lands a book deal to write a sleazy, gossipy expose on Market and its staff, but soon, she is falling head over heels for Adam. Meanwhile, Miranda's brother Jess is himself experiencing love with Adam's friend and manager, Frankie.

Best part of story, including ending: The descriptions of food were awesome and so was the chemistry between Miranda/Adam and Jess/Frankie.

Best scene in story: When Jess and Frankie kiss because it is incredibly romantic.

Opinion about the main character: I like that she doesn't give up her career for love. She actually gives a damn about being a writer.
