At the age of sixteen while helping her father she meets her Best Friend Forever (BFF) Kate. Kate has a passion to be part of the CAA and top near agent. While helping Lola with her first break-up with an actor on set she and Kate became close friends. Though because of Lola's self-confidence is low, she goes to Yoga to center her alignment. There she meets her Best Actor Friend (BAF) Cricket. Cricket is a struggling actress trying to find her big break in the world of acting.
Lola feeling sad that two of her friends found their calling and not her and she has no idea what to do next. After a few years until she is in early twenties, her therapist declares that she is an actoraholic. Which is the therapist believes the reason Lola is addicted to dating narcissistic actors because she is trying to work out a relationship with a narcissistic father. The therapist believes that she also has a career deficit disorder and is in lost with the world of Hollywood Royalty.
Lola takes this to heart and decides to go through a career as a designer. Her father, who footed the bill for the tuition for her stint at Otis College of Art and Design as a painter, says to go find an internship without using his connections. So instead Lola asked her mother to help her land an internship with Karl Lagerfeld's design team. She is competing with her Best Gay Friend (BGF) Julian and meets her arch nemesis, Adrianne Hunt. Adrianne stole Lola's purse design after making fun of it and since then Lola has a deep seated hatred for Adrianne. She was happy that Julian did get the job as the internship with Karl Lagerfeld, though Adrianne got the job at Prada.
So while grieving her loss at working as a designer, her father states that she will be an assistant to him for his new film that he has to shoot to make money. There she meets the main male lead, S.M.I.T.H (Sexist Man In This Hampshire). S.M.I.T.H and Lola develops a passionate chemistry that is hard to ignore. They start to date and the female lead Charlotte Martins has an emergency, Lola makes her acting debut. The film bombs and soon S.M.I.T.H dumps her. Lola escapes to a religious order in India to recover. While making her recovery, Julian calls her and says that she needs to be his ambassador during Oscar Week. Julian has launched a new clothing line that he design and wants Lola to go to actresses and convenience them to wear Julian's clothing. Lola disgruntled but agrees to help Julian by trying to convince all the Hollywood A-listers to wear Julian's clothes.
While she is going back to LA, she meets her nemesis, who is doing the same job but for Prada. While she is trying to convince actresses and slowly they are refusing to wear Julian's outfit, all but one: The Best Actress Nominee Olivia Cutter. Olivia is a diva. Her team members keep on saying that she is perfect in front of Olivia but behind her back saying that she is an evil woman with no feelings. When her only Julian outfit dwindled down to Olivia, Lola has to bend over backwards to please the actress who dog has peed on Lola, who talks in third person (this gets on Lola's nerves really easily), and is not smart (Olivia Cutter believes that Napoleon and Empress Josephine was alive during the Edwardian period).
Though while handling with her sole client, she has to be supportive of her father who is nominated for Best Director for a different film. She goes to these "family" events where lots of spiritual cleaning and parties to promote for her father. While the week of Hell is going one, S.M.I.T.H enters back into her life. She falls in love with him again. Though while struggling with her new job, her family, and reappearance of an Ex-boyfriend that she claims to be love of her life, Lola begins to lose her mind. Then she hears even worse news from Julian that his investors will pull out if there is no one wearing his dress for the Oscars.
Though the day before the Oscars the world falls apart for Lola. She founds out that S.M.I.T.H slept with Olivia. Lola stands up to Olivia which in turn Olivia is not wearing Julian's clothing. Lola feels helpless because without no one is wearing Julian's outfit. Though by sure luck on the day of the Oscars Charlotte Martin is upset that Olivia will be wearing the same outfit as her. So Lola rushes and Charlotte Martin agrees to wear Julian's outfit. It was a big success. Everyone loves Jillian's outfit. Then she hears better news, Olivia did not win Best Actress, and Adrianne Hunt was discovered stealing Prada outfits and selling them on E-bay secretly. Lola feels that she is finally over S.M.I.T.H and other actors for her life. For the first time in her life, Lola feels a complete validation about her life and her chosen career path.
Best part of story, including ending: I got annoyed how the actors, designers, and many people were refereed by their initials. That got really old and confusing after awhile.
I started to really like Lola and begin to understand her suffering of trying to step out of her father's shadow.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene was when Lola, Kate, and Cricket were having their traditional Oscar nominated movie marathon. The scene shows what all the three girls were hoping for in their life as a career and how to move forward but feels that they are stuck in a rut. I liked it because it is easy to relate such as meeting up with friends for some tradition but in the end feels as though not moving forward in their careers.

Opinion about the main character: Lola is a fun character and after getting to know her, she is smart and very funny. Though I did not enjoy how she referred to many people by their initials when she was narrating. That gets confusing after a while.
