Detailed Plot Synopsis of City of God

Crucifix is stolen from church and found on roof of experimental synagogue located in lower Manhattan, run by idealistic young Jewish couple.Wife's father was survivor of Holocaust, but died before he could recover journals kept in ghetto and hidden.

Clergyman ,whose church was vandalized and who is giving up his post because of his loss of faigth, finds cross, and falls in love with wife. Husband, who goes to Poland to
retrieve father-in-law's hidden diaries is slain in front of door of old synagogue. Clergyman takes up search, finds diaries, and marries Jewish wife. Clergyman also converts to Judaism.
