|Plot Summary of Damascus Gate|
|"Christopher Lucas, an American journalist living in Jerusalem in 1992, is looking for freelance story opportunities and possibly an idea for his second book. Assigned to study religious fanatics, he stumbles on a plot to bomb the Temple Mount. Among the characters associated with the plot are Sonia Barnes, another American who has converted to Sufiism and sings jazz in a Tel Aviv nightclub; Adam de Kuff, a somewhat crazed Jewish guru; Jan Zimmer, a soldier-of-fortune who has followed trouble around the world; and various other Islamic, Christian, and Kabbalistic sects. There are violent confrontations in the Gaza Strip, and its unclear where the U.S. authorities or the Israeli government stand or how much they know. "
