In this sequel to A Wild Sheep Chase, which can however be read as a stand-alone novel, the unnamed narrator returns to the Dolphin Hotel of the former book. He is searching for his ex-girlfriend who brought him psychically to the hotel in the first place. At the hotel a series of bizarre encounters occurs. The narrator is confided in by a receptionist who claims to have had a strange ghoulish experience on the 16th floor of the hotel. It turns out that the Sheep Man from A Wild Sheep Chase is alive and well in the hotel for those in tune with the other side. The narrator befriends a 13 year old schoolgirl who too is psychicly aware. They travel to Hawaii together where he again gets tantalisingly close to being in contact with his ex-girlfriend. He goes to the movies to see a school friend actor's latest film and his ex-girlfriend is in a sex scene in the film. He contacts the actor and becomes enmeshed in a series of encounters with call-girls. There follows a string of deaths. In desperation the narrator returns to the hotel where the receptionist he yearns for has another strange encounter with him and the Sheep Man. A marvellous surreal story about a misfit man and his encounters with strange women and the other side of reality.
