"Democracy In America" is a treatise about what America was like, which de Tocqueville wrote after his visit to America. He also examines the potential dangers of majority rule, which he felt could sometimes be every bit as tyrannical as the rule of the aristocracy. The influence of political parties is examined in detail, as well as the effect that the press has on the government.
