Brooke Shields, the famous child star and Calvin Klein model, is brutally honest in this detailed account of her struggles. After marrying television producer Chris Henchy, the couple struggled for several years to become pregnant. After several grueling in vitro fertilization procedures Brooke became pregnant, and tragically, miscarried the baby she so wanted. Down but not broken, Brooke continued the IVF procedures and became pregnant.

Happily, Brooke gave birth to daughter Rowan in 2003 after a very difficult labor.

Although Brooke and her husband were on cloud nine, Brooke soon began to develop the symptoms of severe post partum depression. A fog began to descend on her that felt like nothing she had ever before experienced. She was indifferent to the baby, had thoughts of suicide, feared harming her child and lost all interest in the world around her. In agonizing detail Brooke details the fear, the depression, the ambivalence towards Rowan, the alienation and the loss of desire. Brooke details her downward spiral and the way in which she sought pyschiatric treatment and medication to help her reconnect to her life and develop an unbreakable bond with her baby.
