Dragon Babies on 1/1/2017 4:07:54 PM says: The third book in the Wild Magic series shows lead character Daine visiting the southern kingdom of Carthak as part of a diplomatic mission, alongside Alanna and other key Tortallan political and military figures. Daine has been included purely because of her ability to speak with and heal animals, as the emperor of Carthak's birds have taken gravely ill and she may be able to help. Daine quickly realizes that his birds are the only living things Emperor Ozorne truly cares for, as he repeatedly shows disregard for human life and draws the Tortallan delegation into a web of deceit and international intrigue. Carthak's forgotten deity, the Graveyard Hag, inserts herself into Daine's path to provide her with a terrifying new magical power and right what's gone so wrong in the kingdom of Carthak.
