Jean Timberlake was found dead on the beach seventeen years ago, and a rowdy ex-boyfriend named Billy Fowler was convicted. Billy later escaped, and now private eye Kinsey has to dig deeply in this case that never should have closed.

Bailey Fowler has escaped from prison for murdering his ex-girlfriend. Private Investigator Kinsey Millhone gets involved in the case and disocers that Bailey may not be guilty, and that the killer may have in fact gone undetected. Definietly one of the better Kinsey Millhone books.
