After leaving California, Laura made a life for herself by becomming a professional clown. Even though six years have passed, Mark still hates Laura. He owns a law firm with her uncle, and is outraged when his partner dies and leaves 52% of the firm, jointly, to Laura and her irresponsible cousin. The cousin, Bruce, wants to sell out the stock. In order to save his career and his future, Mark goes in search of Laura. He is determined to convince her to hold onto her stock in his firm. He feels increadibly confused and guilty when he finds himself attracted to Laura. She claims to still love him, and he finds himself reciprocating her feelings. But how can he forgive her for driving the car that ran down his father?
