Charli has never been a girlie-girl type of woman, when a visit with a friend changes her mind. Lifestyle reporter Charli, loves gathering information on sports action. She has worked hard as a lifestyle reporter (boring to her) over the years and is ready for things to pay off with a sideline reporting gig. Hitting the sidelines and getting close enough to players to smell their sweat as asks about plays is her dream job. Her boss doesn't think she has the looks to hold the attention of viewers and fans. Since glam girl has never been her style she leaves, while promising to make him eat his sexist words.

When she is hit while driving on a back road in Texas Charli isn't sure who or why someone would want her hurt or worse, dead. Luckily for her, she is found by Grant Rogers a kind rancher. The accident had taken place in front of his ranch. If he hadn't found her the wild animals would have eaten her by daybreak.
Charli refuses to go to a hospital when the doctor arrives after getting a call from Grant. He wants her to be checked out (she hit her head pretty hard). Grant offers to put her up at Water's Edge Wines, his vineyard.
When Grant asks Charlie her full name he learns she's the kid sister of his army buddy Max. As Charl was taking in how handsome Max was, he was considering asking her out. That is until he found out she was related to his friend.
Max isn't just a rancher and owner of Water's Edge. He also runs a BDSM resort. He doesn't get involved with vanilla women, there is simply no reason. There are plenty of sub missives in the life for him to choose from.
When Charli insists that he drive her home the next day, Grant has already phoned Max. Her brother wants her to leave and go back to Louisiana with him when he sees that her house has been broken into. That's two strikes against her staying alone. She's been hit by a truck and had her house vandalized. Whoever did it took her files on the story she has been busting her butt on and they wanted her dead.
Max is appreciative when Grant says Charli can stay at his ranch for two weeks until her house is wired with an alarm system and new windows are put in. Charli, isn't as happy with the news.
Grant is a great host. He makes sure Charli is comfortable and only asks that she stay out of the woods (they're dangerous) and not hop the fence to the resort. When she takes a shower they feel electricity again. He helps her over the frustration she's felt the last two days by stroking her to orgasm with his fingers.
When he leaves the next night she follows him over the fence and sees two guys making out. She is surprised but keeps walking towards the main door. A worker asks if she's new and she affirms that she is new to the ranch.
Charli sits in on a new sub training and Grant catches her. He's mad that she knows about his business. She's mad that she got caught. They both know she's interested and they begin her formal training with blurred lines. She is straight vanilla he's seasoned as a dom and her brother's good friend.
Charlis' safe word is “Texas” and they go all over the state with their playtime and she never utters it. He takes her home to meet his mother, apparently over his ex-wife. He tells his mother he loves Charli, much to the surprise of himself, Charli, and mom. Max figures out they are involved and Charli does not apologize.
She finishes her investigative story when a college football player agrees to spill the beans on the money he has been offered to cheat and throw the game.
She and Grant move in together and Charli takes her sex game as a submissive to another level. Outside of bed the couple has a pretty balanced relationship.

I disliked that Charli actually thought that Grant could be in the sex business and only have sex with her.
